Yours is the Earth

This blog is a place for me to share stories, both mine and those of people I meet. Through these stories, I hope I can keep my friends and family updated about my life in Ukraine as well as provide some insight into Ukrainian culture and way of life. Although I am unpracticed in the art of blogging and admittedly not a naturally gifted writer, I will do my best to entertain and educate, and hopefully keep you coming back for more.

  • First Week at Site

Today marks one full week at site. So that’s one down, and approximately 103 more to go. It’s been slow. And hard. And sometimes lonely. But also fun, and interesting, and encouraging. • Site Visit Week

One of the most unique aspects of Peace Corps, in my humble opinion, is that you commit to spending 2 years of your life in a country you most likely have never been to before, with very little information about what you’ll be doing or where you’ll be going. In the months leading up to…

  • A Tale of Two PST’s

People said that one of the worst things about doing a second Peace Corps service would be having to sit through PST again. (PST being Pre-Service Training.) I never fully agreed with this sentiment because I loved PST in Ukraine, but I did understand where people were coming from. Now while I’m not about to…

  • Two Weeks Down

I got a bit of a reality check this past week in the form of small encounter with food poisoning. And to be perfectly honest, it was a bit disheartening. I went two years in Ukraine without ever having to call the PCMO and with no major health issues other than a minor cold or…
