Brokedownpalette

These are the occasional rants and reflections of a retired public radio journalist, a permanent resident of northern Ecuador since 2012. My long association with Latin America began with Peace Corps training in 1970 (for assignment in Nicaragua), or maybe even earlier, in 8th grade Spanish class. It came and went but never ended. Most posts offer glimpses of the region’s culture, economy, society or ecology. Others may peer at the rest of the world as seen from the perspective of an armchair here on the Equator.
